Joe believes there is no greater joy than to help people make money, to change their lives and to alter the future for their families. His own life experiences reinforce the idea that anyone, regardless of upbringing or resources, can make something of themselves and prosper in our great country. As a child growing up in hardship, his family left Brooklyn, NY, when he was a teenager and moved to a very small town in Northeast Pennsylvania. Helping his mother to make ends meet, Joe would commute back to Brooklyn on a daily basis to sand floors for his Uncle. Fascinated by Wall Street, he bought his first stock at the age of sixteen and, eventually, walked back into that same brokerage office six years later and offered to work for free if they would teach him the business. Thankfully, they did and thus began his journey in the financial world.
Two principles guided him throughout the early years… One – Good, old-fashioned personal research resulted in sound, educated decisions. Two – Take a long-term investment horizon rather than be overly influenced by the day-to-day mastications of the market. This discipline resulted in success for himself, and more importantly, his clients, and propelled Joe to be one of the top brokers in the country, based in little, old Port Jervis, NY! In 1991, Smith Barney asked him to be one of the first participants in their Portfolio Manager program and he’s been officially managing money ever since.
In 2004, he co-founded with his son, Joseph, Biondo Investment Advisors. As Senior Portfolio Manager and a key member of the investment team, Joe brings a lifetime of experience and expertise to the task of managing clients’ portfolios.
Another old-fashioned principal that has defined Joe’s life has been his commitment to give back to the communities that he’s served faithfully over all these long years. The Ingeborg A. Biondo Memorial Foundation, created in memory of his first wife, has been sending numerous children with special needs to summer camp each year for the last twenty years. The Foundation also provides the ability for twenty disadvantaged families in the local area to provide Christmas for their families each and every year. Ten years ago, Joe built the Firefly Field playground and waterpark for children of all ages and aptitudes in his hometown of Matamoras, PA. He also serves as an Honorary Trustee for Avon Old Farms School and as an Honorary Director of the Newton Medical Center Foundation.
Joe and his wife have a large combined family that encompasses fourteen children and together they have twenty-one grandchildren. They cherish their Sunday family dinners, enjoy traveling, and have run five marathons together. Joe’s passion for this business does not stop, and he can be found in his office dissecting balance sheets and conversing with clients on a daily basis.
